Forces and Motion Science

We had a great time experimenting with forces and motion today.  The students performed an experiment where they formulated the question:  Which student in room 110 will travel the farthest down a ramp?  Each child wrote out their own hypothesis, then we went outside to follow our procedure.  The results were that Evan traveled the furthest, and Lyla traveled the shortest distance! Our conclusion was that it might have had something to do with size, but Mrs. Troman was in the middle!  Hmmm.......

Fall Festival

We had a fantastic time at the Fall Festival!  Thank you to all the parents who came, as well as all the parents who helped behind the scenes!  The children loved having relays, making goo, and playing Trick-or-Treat!  Room 110 hit the jackpot with great students and parents!!!

Elf On the Shelf

We were so incredibly fortunate to have a visit from  Carol Aebersold,  the author of Elf On The Shelf on Wednesday.  The author commented on how engaged the children were, and what terrific questions they asked about the craft of writing!

A Trip Into the Past at Burton Century Village

Our field trip to the Burton Century Village is the kick-off to the next Social Studies unit, History. We will be looking at how time can be shown on calendars and timelines; how artifacts, maps and photographs can show us how people used to live long ago; how science and technology have changed our lives; and how different people's inventions have changed the world we live in. While at the Burton Century Village the students had a chance to see where and how people lived over one hundred years ago. We had a chance to see what their homes looked like, what it was like to go to school in a one-room school house, and what a store looked like back then.

Thought you would enjoy seeing some of the pictures we took today, we especially enjoyed our journey back in time to the one room school house!
